20th Century (1969). Tonal. Jazz. Set in 6 movements, entitled The Jogger; Seashine; Laurel & Hardy March; Short Conversation; Auralin; Do You Want To Be Loved... Yes? Sartorical and witty with the some finger snapping and grunting to boot. Mixed meters, jazzy passages. The year of composition says a lot about the overall experience intended. Requires some rhythm chops, but not overly so. --cdp

20th Century. Jazz. "Only a few short years ago, jazz and classical music were considered separate and mutually exclusive worlds. No musician, it was believed, could operate in both. But in the last 2 decades, a new breed of musician, at ease and adept in both, has emerged. And one of the most respected - by fellow musicians and listeners alike - is a Bostonian named Roger Kellaway. 21st Century (2007). This extraordinary large work in three movements [Cats & Dogs, Fanfare & Chorale, Big Band] is not only delectable to perform, but is flexible in how to program. Performable as a whole, each movement as a stand alone work, or coupling two of the movements together all works very well. -the publisher

21st Century (2009). This work is my second essay for brass quintet, composed in 1993 and revised in 2009. The four movements are named for differing types of metal from which, historically, the instruments have sometimes been made or veneered. But thesemovement titles, (Brass, Silver, Copper and Gold) are only points of inspiration. The music itself presents four movements of contrasting tempos and coloration. -the composer

20th Century (1975). The Quintet No. 1 for brass instruments was composed in 1975 when I was teaching at a university, though it was not premiered until many years later. The piece is the first of several for brass instruments. It is in three contrastingmovements of a neo-Classical style, similar to the works of Hindemith. 21st Century. Turmmusik, meaning tower music, is music played from a church tower by a local band of musicians. It originated in 16th century Germany, where the music performed was usually a chorale played by wind instrumentalists. Brass performances were the most common according to the surviving music, though all kinds of instruments were featured in turmmusik.
