We currently do not have any positions open. However, when we do, the first place we look is to our file of recent letters of application. So, if you are interested in a career with Hickeys Music Center, please feel free to submit a cover letter and brief resume to us at the addresses indicated below.
Hickey's Music Center, located in Ithaca, the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York, from time to time has job openings for motivated individuals to work in the retail music business. Hickey's is a small family owned and operated musical tradition in continuous business since 1892 (1892, not 1982). If you are qualified, opportunities may exist to teach private lessons in our music school outside of regular shift hours. Away from work, you will find that Ithaca and its surrounds are a great place to call home. Full of culture (and live music), the city is home to Ithaca College and the Ivy League's Cornell University. Other nearby institutions within an hour's drive include Tompkins Cortland Community College, Elmira College, Wells College, Keuka College, Binghamton University, Cortland State University and Syracuse University. Besides 38 mile long Cayuga Lake, Ithaca is surrounded by several city, county and state parks, a national forest, upstate New York's beautiful wine country and miles of rural countryside. The Finger Lakes region as a whole is an outdoor paradise with deep gorges, long hiking/biking trails, cross country and downhill skiing, lots of woodlands accessible year-round and, of course, all the water activities on the lakes. Housing prices are reasonable, especially when compared to those in larger metropolitan areas. There are excellent schools, the sky is dark at night and the summers are amazing. If you want to get out of the rat race and join a fun, people-oriented company with an artistic mission, please contact us.
