When the Saints Go Marching In (Gale) [211.01]

Jazz. This arrangement of "When the Saints Go Marching In" was created to be a feature concert version of the classic traditional folk hymn. It develops the basic theme from a "bluesy" gospel call played by a solo trombone through a series of transformations culminating in a dramatic orchestral style finale which reflects the triumphal implications of the song's words. Along the way, the tune is performed as a simple lyric melody, a Chorale, a Cakewalk, a Strut, a Fugue, Dixieland Jazz and a Big Band swing and Modern Jazz "Shout" chorus. - the composer

Straight mute required for 2nd trumpet part. For the most part, this arrangement includes moderate technical challenges and range, though the different keys, stylistic changes, and a few technical spots do require more mature performance skills. Score &parts. -pc
