    Tribute

21st Century. Tribute for Horn and Orchestra a Suite for Horn and Strings (piano reduction) by Terry Mizesko is intended to be a "tribute" to the horn, the composer, the performer, and everything that the performer brings to the piece. The tribute is also to the great Romantic composers of the 19th and early 20th Century who used the horn as one of the most expressive instruments of the orchestra.
The work was commissioned by friends and family in memory of Andrew McAfee.
The four-movement Suite has varied styles and explores many emotions through the music.
Movement I is in Sonata form and features from Brahmsian dark sounds to the sounds of adventure and the outdoors.
Movement II is titled Highland Air with a melody reflecting Scots-Irish influences of Appalachia.
Movement III An accompanied cadenza opens this movement, also in Sonata form, with contrasting, cool-jazz ruminations on the one hand and broad melodic contours on the other.
Movement IV titled Lament is self-explanatory, ending with a chorale hymn tune in memory of family, a beautiful and touching ending to a wonderful work. - the publisher
