21st Century (2010). Triangles II-Segnali (2010) is the final in the Triangles series. It is titled as number II because it is actually a rewritten version of the second in the Triangles series (1988), which was never performed or published. All of the Triangles pieces (see the list below) are about timbre and space, with the performers being placed on the stage in the form of triangles of different types for each version. The first three works in the Triangles series are based on a seven-pitch s...

Well known Spiritual & Christian hymn tune. This arrangement begins with two soloists located in the audience. The soloists are a B-flat trumpet (stage left) and a flugelhorn (stage right). Location of the soloists should allow each one to return to the stage in a reasonable amount of time once their solos are finished. The arrangement takes the melody through no less than five different keys. The final rendering of the melody features a trumpet soloist who is accompanied by a simple 3-part harmo...
Men of Harlech is a folksong from Wales. It is a stirring and bold march that shows off the power of this ensemble. It opens with 4 offstage trumpets playing some calls which moves into an onstage chorale setting of the piece. It gradually builds to a terrific ending with all 12 trumpets heralding. This piece is not too difficult (range is only to Bb) and would be appropriate for high school or college level players. 5:50

Based on the Welsh hymn Cwm Rhondda. Fanfares and descants in the trumpets float over the stately tune. The melody flows throughout the ensemble ranging from a smooth lyrical statement of the theme to a brilliant marcato feel. This would make a great opener to a concert. It has been scored for a trumpet ensemble of 7 trumpets (including an optional piccolo part), 2 flugelhorns and percussion. Duration: 2:40

For trumpet duet, accompaied by trumpet octet & hand percussion (claves and egg shaker). It was my honor and my pleasure to write this piece in dedication to Vincent Di Martino (and his son Gabriel) upon Vince's 50th year in higher education. The image I had for this piece was of someone casting stones into a pool and the ripples going out, one by one, from each stone - in that sense as each of many ideas from teacher to son, to students, to the students of students, to colleagues in the US and ...
