Orchestra Trumpeter, The - A Method for Transposition

This method has a skill-building emphasis. It is divided into several sections which gradually introduce different transpositions while giving the student several exercises to practice the new key. Chapters progress transposing trumpet parts in the following keys C, Ab, and A; Eb and F; D and E. Brief examples are included transposing to G, Gb, F#, B, and Db. Each section includes a helpful chart comparing a C major scale in the transposed key to the corresponding scale that the Bb trumpet would have to play. Technical demands are intermediate, but this method is suitable for later intermediate and advanced players. Includes the following excerpts: BERLIOZ: Harold in Italy; ERNST: Concerto for Violin; MEYERBEER: Robert the Devil (opera); MUSSORGSKY: Pictures at an Exibition; TCHAIKOVSKY: Capriccio Italien; STRAUSS: Ein Heldenleben; VERDI: Don Carlos; CHAUSSON: Symphony in Bb; HANDEL: The Trumpet Shall Sound; LEONCAVALLO: Pagliacci; 63 pages. -pc
