| The NEW Jiggs Whigham p-Bone brings a fun and intriguing twist to the traditional trombone. With its plastic construction, this lightweight instrument sounds and plays remarkably like a typical brass trombone. We routinely stock all available colors, and have had the chance to play them all. They're a lot of fun, lightweight, well balanced and easy to play. They have a black fiberglass slide with brass stockings and as such are different than anything else around. They technically don't need to be lubricated though Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort and other one-step mixes enhance the action. The slide is a bit rough at first, but once properly run in, it improves markedly and becomes much quieter. The horn sounds like a trombone, not as brassy, with a slightly covered sound as you might imagine. Many others who tried the horn were impressed with its sound, ease of playing and intonation. And no, there's no difference in timbre from color to color (that would be too cool). Here are the stats:
