Qty. Aharoni New Method for Bass Trombone 4/E Aharoni's magnum opus is a collection of technical etudes designed for players of instruments with one or two valves. The title represents the fact in the year of the first edition's publication, very few books were available for players who specialized on bass trombone. This book is divided into nine principal sections, two for single valve (single F - 57 pages; single F tuned to E - 16 pages), three for dependant double valve (flat E - 22 pp; Eb - 21 pp; D - 25 pp), two for independant valves (Bb/F/G/Eb - 11 pp; Bb/F/Gb/D - 10 pp) and a section for "other combinations." In addition there is an appendix for a single valve with sliding F attachment (a device advocated by the author but not commonly in use). Despite the sections and their intended uses, the book as a whole contains nearly 200 etudes that are challenging and instructive, regardless of your horn's setup. This book is especially useful in the development of the low register, as many etudes either concentrate or employ material well into the trigger and pedal registers. 180 pages. Qty. Bollinger Valve Technique for Bass Trombone Subtitled "You've Got TWO Valves, Use BOTH," this book has been needed in the bass trombone world ever since the development and widespread use of the independant valve system. Blair Bollinger here lays out 91 pages of exercises and sage advice about [finally] putting that second valve to the most efficiant use possible. Perhaps the most important thing to understand here is that Bollinger is advocating the use of the second valve by itself, as well as in combination with the first valve. Most bookson bass trombone technique omit this obvious yet incredibly important issue. Although the book advocates for the less popular "Bb/F/G/Eb" tuning, the etudes still work well for the more prevalent "Bb/F/Gb/D" tuning. If you are a bass trombonist, and youdo not routinely use your second valve MORE than your first, then you should check out this book. Your skill on the instrument can only improve. All are in comfortable keys for CC or BBb tuba, and all work well for bass trombone, F and Eb tuba though they are in the lower range for these instruments, but not too low.These important studies are similar to the Bordogni legato etudes but are generally shorter in length. Most etudes are one page long and can be perfected in a shorter time than the longer Bordogni studies.
