These etudes are technical in nature, with focus primarily on arpeggiation, diatonic scalar passages, sequential motives and leaps of the octave. Originally published in an edition for trombone/bassoon in 1836. The etudes were also included in a separatebook by his pen for double bass, and as a result they contain fingerings for double bass which can be somewhat distracting. These Studies are the same as the "Basic Studies," "Etudes" and "Melodic Technique" books published by other publishers. -cdp
