19th Century. Fest-Klange for 11-part Brass Ensemble, Timpani, and Organ by Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann has been edited by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. This serious work was originally scored in 1879 having been commissioned for the opening of a new building at Copenhagen University. Fest-Klange is harmonically interesting and is in ABA format with a calm inner part sandwiched between massive sounding brass and organ sections in the two outer sections.
The work is suitable for moderately advanced performers. It is scored for 5 trumpets (E-flat soprano, 2 B-flat cornets, 2 trumpets in F), 2 horns, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, and organ. -the publisher
