Ralph Sauer has compiled a set of Three Pieces for euphonium and piano by Modest Mussorgsky. They are delightful, relatively unknown works originally for piano, Impromptu passionne (Schumanesquely romantic) written very early on; A Teardrop (very sad); and Near the Southern Shore of the Crimea (a riotous, rhythmically passionate dance). The last two works were written towards the end of his life. - the publisher
