Edited by David Hite, this piece is in A minor, and begins with a singing melody in 3/4 time. The Gigue is in an Allegro 12/8 time with continuous eigth notes. There are many scalar sequences and large leaps contained in these passages, which give the soloist opportunity to facilitate technique. Range is just over 2 octaves, from low A (A3) to high C above the staff (C6).
