Euphonium Solos w/Piano

  • Demersseman, Jules (Lapie)

Premier Solo de Concert (ca 1865) (Lapie) [treble or bass clef]

Classical. The Premier Solo (in C minor-C major), was originally published by the instrument manufacturer Adolphe Sax (around 1865), and was written for the 6-valve trombone with independent tubes. When Paul Delisse re-opened the trombone class at the Paris Conservatory in 1871, and when the return of an exclusive slide trombone class was agreed upon, this solo was chosen as the required piece at the concours (contests) of 1876, 1879, 1884 and 1887. Among the winners of those concours, one should mention the name of Louis Allard (first prize in 1876) who subsequently became the successor of Delisse at the position of professor. -the publisher
