Robin was the wife of Robert Sullivan, Assistant Principal Trumpet in the New York Philharmonic for many years. The work was premiered in Nyack, New York at a memorial service for Robin Sullivan. Performed by Philip Smith, Principal Trumpet and Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone - both of the New York Philharmonic. At the piano was composer Joseph Turrin. The title of the piece comes from the hymn tune by Charles Wesley (1707-1788). Musically this composition has no relation to the hymn itself except in the fact that it served as an inspiration. -the composer.
