Festival Coronation March (Gamble) [343.01 w/percussion]
Romantic. Tchaikovsky's Festival Coronation March was commissioned by the City of Moscow in 1883 for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III and was first performed on June 4 of that year. The work contains two quotes from "God Save the Tsar", which were edited out during performances throughout the Communist Soviet era, but are now back in place in order for the low brass section to shine. Steven Gamble's arrangement of this 5-1/2 minute work for 11-part brass ensemble, timpani & percussion is appropriate for advanced players. Instrumentation is for 3 trumpets (2 Eb and 1 Bb) 4 horns, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani & percussion. - the publisher
