20th Century. Opening cadenza covers the full range of the trumpet and begins with an extended ascending sequence in C minor (on Bb trumpet part) up to high Db above the staff. The second section has a lilting quality as meters shift back and forth from 6/8 to 9/8 to 12/8. The final section is marked Burlesque Allegro Vivo and shifts between duple and compound meters while the soloist showcases fingering dexterity in sixteenth note passages that lie quite comfortably under the fingers. This workcontains flutter tonguing, double tonguing, glissandi, asymmetrical meters, and extended range (from low F# below the staff to high Eb above). -pc
