M. Julien Falk, composer and teacher at the main National Academy of Music in Paris (Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris) composed 20 atonal etudes in progressive order, each with a distinctive style. Etudes are entitled: Aria, Valse, Choral 1 and 2, Dodecaphonie, Parade, Fugato, Slow, Preludio, Scherzo, Dancerie, Fantasia, Sonnerie, Improvisation, Introduction Et Chasses, Mazurka, Duo (simulating a duet, but played by a soloist), Burlesque, Moto Perpetuo, And Takutu. In addition to atonal writing, Falk also incorporates, changing and complex meters, un-metered sections, wide leaps, triple tonguing, flutter tonguing, some extended range (up to high D above the staff), well-detailed dynamic, articulation and other musical notations to encourage expressive playing.
