This method develops the student's range from low F-sharp to high B-flat and covers the major keys from four flats to four sharps, rhythmic notation from whole notes and rests to sixteenths, metric notation including 2/4, 3/4, 6/8, common and cut time, slurring and staccato articulation and dynamic marking. In addition the scale studies and warm-up and lip-slur exercises at the back of the book are designed to progressively strengthen the learner's lip and breathing muscles. Instructions on which of these exercises to practice are periodically placed among the 200 studies so that the student's physical development keeps pace with his/her musical training. 32 pages. - the composer
