    Chromatic Exercises & Technical Studies

This 44-page book consists of two sections. The first is a set of 48 chromatic exercises in extensive and detailed variations about evenly divided between duple and triple figures. A multitude of suggested articulation schemes and slurring patterns are presented which are to be successively applied to each exercise. The second section of the book contains fifteen etudes, many of which are arrangements of less-familiar material from J.S. Bach. They are quite challenging but their aural reward is such that you are pulled along in a desire to master the etude. They bring everything together that he has been talking about in the previous books.

Chromatic finger speed, arpeggios, rapid single or double tonguing, triple tonguing, wide intervals in slower and faster exercises, ornamentation (trill, multiple grace notes with 2-5 arpeggiated grace note figures), several low range exercises and others that frequently move between lower range and above the staff. Composer also includes suggested articulation options for many of the etudes. - Helpful instructions are placed throughout the book to guide the student. 42 pages. Pierre Thibaud was principal trumpet of the Paris Opera, Israel Philharmonic, and was professor of trumpet at the Paris Conservatory.
