    Men's Choruses (5) (Fetter)

    1. "Nothing Said!" is whimsical and philosophical (nothing ventured, nothing gained). Green Fields is an unassumingly ardent description of a summer landscape. 2. "Calm Over the Rooftops" is a setting of a Goethe poem of comfort, Uber allen Gipfein Ist Ruh. In this, the lower voices begin each line with varying statements of a unison melody, which is answered each time by the full choir. 3. "Serenade," the first part's entreaties are endorsed by his companions. Their approach is of cordial charm, rather than drama. 4. "Student Song" from Goethe's "Faust" is three verses with refrain of a lusty chorus with a boisterous soli passage for the lower voices that becomes more exaggerated in its repetitions. - the publisher
