In 1921 Gustav Holst borrowed the stately and majestic melody from the Jupiter movement of his Planets Suite and added the lyrics to it from the British patriotic hymn "I Vow to Thee, My Country," a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice.
The popular hymn has been used for many important occasions including the funerals of Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana, the Coronation of King Charles III and even the wedding of Diana to Prince Charles. - the publisher
