    Intermezzo

21st Century (2002). Intermezzo received its first performance in 2002 with Roger Cutts (Welsh National Opera) as soloist. The piece was the result of a commission by Michael Sallis to compose an item for solo trombone and his Gloucestershire wind orchestra. In the event the composer decided to score the work for only the 'softer' colours of wind instruments and timpani as this best suited the elegiac character of the music. This piano accompaniment is a reduction by the composer of the full scorewhich is available from Warwick Music. The publication includes solo parts in both tenor and Bb treble clefs. -the publisher
