Kelsey, Jim Sonata, op 25

Trombone Solos w/Piano

  • Kelsey, Jim

    Sonata, op 25

20th Century (1994). Composed during the months of April through December, 1994, this piece is reflective of the style of writing that Mr. Kelsey wrote in during the early 1990’s. Influenced by Vincent Persichetti’s book, Twentieth-Century Harmony, it extensively utilizes quartal harmony and polytonalism. Other pieces written by Mr. Kelsey that also reflect this style are the Prelude for piano, Op. 21, Sonata for piano, Op. 22 Five Meditations, and Nocturnes for Piano, Op 26. The dedication went to Steven Churchwell, a trombonist who Mr. Kelsey accompanied many times while studying music at Eastern Washington University. -the publisher
