This handmade, fiberglass shell case is specifically designed to accommodate those instruments with cut or detachable screw-ring bell flares, such as those made by Courtois, Shires, Thein, Yamaha, Eastman and others. The bell flare, when detached from the rest of the bell section, is stored in the bottom of the case. This makes it possible to have a flat case with no flare at one end, that is also slightly shorter than a typical trombone case. Owing to its shape and size, it might even pass for a viola case. With its small size and tough shell, this case is most appropriate for flying as a carry-on, as it will fit into most aircraft overhead compartments. If rejected as carry-on, the case can likely still be safely gate checked with some additional padding provided by you. Bonna's cases are well known as some of the most protective cases on the market and are used by many of the world's top professionals. -cdp
