    Semper Fidelis March (Denroche) [211.01]

Sousa considered the Semper Fidelis March his finest work. He composed and dedicated it to the U.S. Marine Band in 1888 after a request by President Chester Arthur. The instrumentation is for standard brass quintet: trumpets in B-flat, horn in F, trombone & tuba with optional piccolo trumpets and optional rubber hose for the horn in the middle section. This crowd pleaser has optional parts for piccolo trumpets and the French hose! A great piece in which to use a hose horn to demonstrate the harmonic series. This arrangement by Steve Denroche is about 2-1/2 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers. Mr. Denroche's arrangement has been recorded by the Carolina Brass from their album "That's A Plenty." -the publisher
