    20th Century. Italian composer Ottorino Respighi composed three Ancient Airs and Dances Suites. This transcription by Vern Kagarice for 13-part large brass choir is of the first Suite, dating from 1917. All three Suites are all based on music from the Italian Renaissance, with Suite No I sourced from the lute works of Simone Molinaro, Vincenzo Galilei and two other anonymous composers. The Suite is in four movements:

    •  I. Balletto - Il Conte Orlando
    •  II. Galliard
    •  III. Villanella
    •  IV. Passo Mezzo e Mascherada

    This transcription is for 4 trumpets in C (trumpet 1 doubles piccolo, trumpet 4 doubles flugelhorn), 4 horns, 3 trombones (TTB), euphonium, and tuba. Score & parts.
