20th Century. French composer. A variety of etudes which emphasize training in single/double/triple tonguing, large interval leaps, flexibility in fast passages, symmetrical/asymmetrical meters, chromatic runs, ornamentation (turns), and lyrical playing . Many of these etudes are quite obviously technical studies, while others are "concert etudes" and allow for more expressive interpretation. Straight mute required.
