Barat, Joseph Eduard Andante & Allegro

Trombone Solos w/Piano

  • Barat, Joseph Eduard

    Andante & Allegro [bass clef]

20th Century (1935). French Conservatory. Single movement work opening in a slow B-flat minor, proceeding to a Poco piu Vivo section, and then finishing with a faster B-flat major section. This work composed for the annual trombone competition at the Paris Conservatory in 1935. The lyrical Andante provides expressive phrasing opportunitites while challenging the trombonist with quick and agile yet soft and legato figures. The contrasting Allegro gives vent to the brilliant, virtuosic possibilities ofthe instrument. -the publisher
