    Va Pensiero, from Nabucco (Fetter)

Romantic. Va, pensiero, also known as the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves is from the 1842 opera Nabucco and has one of the mostly recognizable melodies in the Classical repertoire. It recollects the period of Babylonian captivity after the loss of the FirstTemple in Jerusalem and was inspired by Psalm 137. Some scholars have thought that the chorus was intended to be an anthem for Italian patriots trying to unify their country (Wikipedia). David Fetter has arranged this powerful work for 6-part trombone ensemble and organ (the organ adds immense depth to the sound). For intermediate performers (all parts are in bass clef with moderate ranges). -the publisher
