Ave Maria, from Quatro Pezzi Sacri (Jiron) [404.00, 314.00 or 224.00]

Romantic. Ave Maria, composed in 1889 is the first movement of Verdi's Quattro Pezzi Sacri (4 Sacred Pieces) for a cappella chorus. Verdi was inspired to compose this work, prompted by the challenge put forth to harmonize the Enigmatic Scale by composer Adolfo Crescentini. The rather bizarre scale is passed around to all the parts throughout the entire work and is part of the mystery of this sacred work.

This 6-minute piece has been arranged by Denis Jiron for 4 trumpets and 4 trombones. Trumpet 1 is cornet, trumpets 3 & 4 are flugelhorn; trombones are TTTB. Horn sub parts are provided for the flugelhorn parts, and a A tuba sub is provided for bass trombone. This work may be performed by moderately advanced performers. -the publisher/cdp
