This handmade, fiberglass shell case is specifically designed to accommodate those instruments with cut or detachable screw-ring bell flares, such as those made by Shires, Thein, Eastman and others. The bell flare, when detached from the rest of the bellsection, is stored in the bottom of the case. This makes it possible to have a flat case with no flare at one end, that is also slightly shorter than a typical trombone case. Owing to its shape and size, it might even pass for an oversized violin or viola case. With its compact size and tough shell, this case is most appropriate for flying as a carry-on, as it will fit into the overhead compartments on most larger aircraft. If rejected as carry-on, the case can likely still be safely gate checked with some additional padding provide by you. Bonna's cases are wellknown as some of the most protective cases on the market and are used by many of the world's top professionals. -cdp
