20th Century. An original work for the modern large trombone choir. Written for the Eastman Trombone Choir and recorded by them on their signature 1971 LP under the direction of Rayburn Wright. This recording was re-released as a CD entitled "The Legacy of Emory Remington" (item 025736). For 12 trombones in three equal TTTB quartets.

As the title suggests, this work is an exploration of some of the sounds that were emerging in rock music at the time. The character is more quasi funk or fusion, like that of Chicago or Earth, Wind & Fire, and not like traditional Doo-Wop or Rock-n-Roll. Familiar elements include rhythms, open "power chord" harmonies and an agressive tempo.

Requires strong lead and agile bass players (the top first part ranges to a fleeting high F). This revised edition stays true to the original rental-only parts, though numerous copyist errors and omissions (inconsistent or missing articulations & dynamics) have been corrected.
