    20th Century. The movement titles reflect the spirit of historic American figures. The first movement which is inspired by American author "Napoleon Hill" is marked to played "Fast, with a positive mental attitude." Second movement, "Calvin Coolidge" is to be played "In a straightforward style; expressively laconic." Final movement "William Tecumseh Sherman," is written in alternating 7/8 and 4/4 meters, and is marked "Relentlessly aggressive." Trumpets and trombone require straight mutes, some "stopped" horn passages, 2nd trumpet plays flugelhorn in second movement. Trombone often plays in tenor clef. Score & parts. -pc
