Qty. Blazhevich Musical Impromtu [12 trombones] For 12 trombones (8 tenors & 4 basses) or 10 trombones (8 tenors and 2 basses) & 2 tubas. Among his ensemble works, Blazhevich wrote two Fantasies for ten trombones, two tubas, and timpani, the first of which was given the name Musical Impromtu. In performance, the tympani part was often omitted due to the inconvenience of transporting timpani to the performance venue. This piece was likely composed in the early 1920s and has existed only in manuscript form until this publication. Clefs: AATTTTBBBBBB (1st and 2nd parts also printed in tenor clef). First Western edition, authorized by the Blazhevich family. Optional timpani part unavailable. Spelling of "Impromtu" is a direct Romanization from the manuscript.

Showdown for 10-part trombone choir by Howard Buss was composed during the latter months of 2009 for Nathaniel Brickens, The University of Texas-Austin Trombone Choir, and the 2010 International Trombone Festival. This entertaining work is a musical depiction of two opposing groups of cowboys. Each group is comprised of a soloist and 4 "companions." Following the initial fanfare, the groups individually showcase their musical prowess. Eventually they clash in a riveting sonic "gunfight." Showdown mixes Buss' unique style of soaring lyricism, energetic rhythms, and colorful harmonies with forceful and idiomatic writing for the trombones.
