Qty. Berg 34 Skidoo [w/rhythm section] Jazz. The title of this Bill Evans composition suggests the fact that the meter continually alternates between sections of 3/4 and 4/4 time. The tempo is medium fast with a strong swing feel. Both tenor trombone and piano are well-featured to this tune'sintensely chromatic changes, and there are some trombone "fours" near the end. This arrangement is quite difficutl technically and demands an excellent bass trombonist. It will challenge top professional groups. Scored for 5 tenors, 1 bass & rhythm. --the publisher

Qty. Berg Five [w/rhythm section] Jazz. Composed by Bill Evans. Five is an earlier Bill Evans tune based on rhythm changes. The tune (and the arrangement) is a study in tuplets, especially five quarter notes over four. The head includes mixed meters, but blowing sections are in 4/4. Solos include piano, a section where several trombones play overlapping "sixes," and then an extended bone solo. There is plenty of intricate ensemble work. This arrangement will require extensive rehearsal for anyone who tackles it. Scored for 5 tenor bones, 1 bass bone, and rhythm. --the publisher

Qty. Berg Hoosier Daddy [w/rhythm section] Jazz. If the title doesn't suggest the tune on which the chords in this Curt Berg chart is based, it will soon become apparent when played. The key, however, modulates up a minor third half-way through the tune. This is mostly a modern-sounding arrangement with an angular melody and interesting chord substitutions, but there is a quasi-Dixie section near the end. The first solo section alternates bass and bass trombone, and the fourth bone gets an extended solo later. The solos sections follow the harmonic format of the head. This is a fairly difficult arrangement, but probably playable by excellent college ensembles. Difficult. Scored for 5 tenors, 1 bass & rhythm. --the publisher
