Best for jazz and dance band work. NOTE: The manufacturer labels this as a "bass trombone" mute, but in fact it is best suited for large bore tenors as described above. Some filing of the corks may be needed to fit to your specific bell flare.

A good basic fiber cup mute for all small and medium bore tenor trombones with bell sizes up to 8 inches in diameter. Features a 6-inch wide cup section. Produces classic cup tone. Best for jazz and dance band work. NOTE: Although thismute will fit into a large 547 bore trombone (Bach 42, Conn 88H, etc), the sound will not be as full due to the mute's small cup size and very tight fit. Later, as the corks compress, the cup may actually contact the bell, closing the sound off even further. Instead, for large bore trombones we recommend using item number 23114.
