Hickey's Repair Shop Gets Its Own Website

17 July, 2002:
Hickey's Music has long maintained a professional repair shop on premesis for the benefit of professionals, teachers, amateurs and students alike. But until today, the Shop has had no web presence. Today that changes with the introduction of our new mini website dedicated to our repair shop. On the site you can learn something about the technicians, get answers to frequently asked questions, and view price lists for common repairs. The Shop offers a complete range of maintenance, repair and restoration services for all band and orchestral, fretted (guitar), percussion and electronic instruments. Located in-house, there is no job too big or too small. Our repair shop runs full time with multiple technicians repairing hundreds of instruments each year. We have specialists in woodwinds, brasses, strings, percussion and electronics. Our shop has been running since the 1980's and has earned a reputation for excellence both locally and throughout the nation. We operate a careful shop — each instrument is given the time needed to make the repair thoroughly and correctly to exacting measures. Instruments are play tested before they leave the shop to confirm the work done has taken. We also guarantee all work and strive to give you, our customer, the best in a timely yet thorough manner. Reunion Blues Announces New Production Schedule

16 November, 2001:
Reunion Blues has today announced that they will not be shipping any new products until at least March of 2002. Reunion Blues has been in the process of reorganizing their production facilities and suppliers since the spring. Since summer, we have been expecting a new shipment to arrive sometime this month. However, now that the delivery date has been pushed back yet again, we have decided to approach the situation with a clean slate. As of today, if you have a Reunion Blues product on backorder with us, your order has been cancelled. Over the next day or two we will be sending out letters to each of you explaining the current situation. If you wish your backorder to remain in our system, with the knowledge that it may not arrive until March at the earliest, simply send an e-mail to ReunionBlues@hickeys.com telling us that you wish for your order to stay alive — that's all there is to it. For those of you who have "G" style trombone bags on order, the wait will be even longer, as Reunion Blues has stated that this model of bag will not be available when the others models are released.

Hickey's Music Center still has a very few Reunion Blues products remaining on our shelves for immediate delivery. To see which bags from Reunion Blues we currently have available, please visit the Case & Bag page for your instrument. Of course, you can always drop us a line at info@hickeys.com to inquire about a product as well. In light of the current situation with Reunion Blues, we have been adding other brands of cases and gig bags to fill the gap, including horn cases from Thompson, and a variety of soft and hard cases from Pro Tec. Again, please visit the Cases & Bags page for your instrument to see which models and styles we have available for you. We thank you in advance for your understanding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Hickey's Opens New Warehouse and Internet Offices

22 October, 2001
Today we were able to finally realize a long standing dream of ours. Beginning in the late spring of this year, we began work on renovating some adjoining space in the 125 year old building we call home, creating a warehouse and office for our mailorder division. After many hours of carpentry, cement work, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, numerous runs to the recycling center with scrap metal and wood, and a final coat of bright white paint, we have finally moved into our new "digs." With your continued support over the years, our business has grown to the point that we could no longer fit in the small space where our mail order employees had been located. Employees literally had been jumping over one another to fill your orders and process sales. We've been needing this move for a long time! Now we are spread out in a better space and as a result, are much better able to handle your orders and answer your questions, all without having to yell to be heard over the shipping equipment!

Hickey's Employees Safe After Hideous Attacks

11 September, 2001
Like most of America and the world, the staff of Hickey's Music Center has been deeply shaken by the terrorist attacks here in our home state, as well as those in Pennsylvania and Washington DC to the south. We at Hickey's Music would like to express our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to those who were the innocent victims of these most barbaric of acts. And, we want to also express our gratitude to those of you from far away who wrote us to ask about our well being - the concern shown was truly heartwarming. It reminds us of what remains right with the world. We found ourselves, like so many others, wanting to help the rescue and recovery efforts. If you would like to contribute towards the relief effort, or to learn how to help in other ways, we urge you to visit one or more of the following sites:
