School for Trombone in Clefs [Clef Studies] (Kharlamov/Deryugin/Stare)

The School for Trombone in Clefs (the "Blazhevich Clef Studies") first appeared in 1925. A later edition appeared in 1939, which represented the full maturation of the composer's ideas. Today's new original authentic edition is based on that final 1939 Russian publication. It corrects errors and omissions found in previous American editions which had been based on the 1925 version. It also removes all non authentic editorial content such as dynamics, articulations and tempo indications that had been added along the way. The original Forward by Blazhevich has been restored, with some additional advice provided by the editors (clearly marked as such) to bring the language into the 21st century. Thus, in this edition, the music and text are returned to their authentic state, exactly as Blazhevich intended. As an added feature, each section of the book and many of the individual studies have been annotated by Ward Stare, former principal trombonist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. These are clearly indicated and are intended to act as performance advice, rather than definite instruction. 105 pages. Spiral bound.

NOTE: The School for Trombone in Clefs is the official replacement for the various "Clef Studies" books previously published by International Music and Leeds/MCA Music/Hal Leonard, edited by Allen Ostrander and Donald Hunsberger respectively. This volume does not contain the Sequences—see item 070000 for these.
