    Gaston Dufresne, former contrabassist with the Boston Symphony, created this now famous collection of sight-reading etudes in progressive order which exposes the advanced performer to quickly changing meters, symmetrical and asymmetrical meters (5/16, 7/16, 3/8, 3/8, 5/4. 9/4, etc.), advanced rhythms up to 16th and 32nd note combinations, syncopation, simple and compound subdivisions, key signatures up to 4 sharps/6 flats, variety of tempi, and more.
