  • Byrd, William (Hartman)

Gadeamus Omnes, from Gradulia (1605) (Hartman) [211.01]

Late Renaissance/Early Baroque. Bryd's vocal music is so satisfying largely because of his brilliance in composing music that brings the text to life. In this motet, Gaudeamus omnes, from the Gradualia of 1605, he uses spirited rhythms, playful counterpoint and joyous ascending melodies to envision the singing of angels as they celebrate the Feast of All Saints holiday.
