Ave Maria - Angelus Domini (Kalwas)

20th Century. Gorgeous choral anthem originally for seven part men's chorus, here set for trombone choir. Parts can easily be doubled. Alternates between short solo recitative and full-choir chorale sections that continually build to the end. This is oneof those charts that will make your hair stand on end.

As a direct transcription, this work is similarly voiced to the Manduca & Lumpkin editions. Like Lumpkin, Kalwas has the solo cantor line specified in specific parts. Unlike the other editions, Kalwas includes an additional 8th voice. This "extra" voice is merely the 7th (bass) voice mostly doubled at the octave.

This edition also includes overarching phrase markings like the Manduca. Dynamics markings are quite subtle and never rise above mp. In the key of C like Lumpkin. All parts are in bass clef. Score & parts. -cdp
