    Triangles [011.01]

20th Century. Set in four sections, connected to form a continuous piece by short cadenzas for each instrument. -hmc
Triangles was composed in 1978 for the members of Pentagon, a brass quintet based in New York City of which John Stevens was the tubist. The work was premiered in January 1979 on that group's debut concert in Carnegie Recital Hall. It was later recorded (in 1985) by the composer and friends on his LP album ®PowerŻ, on Mark Records. In the years since it has been widely performed by brass players in the USA and around the world. The work is in four sections, connected to form a continuous piece by short cadenzas for each instrument. All three instruments are featured equally throughout the piece, which employs jazz styles and rhythms in each section. -the publisher
